Introduction
Courses are structured and self-paced, allowing for greater flexibility in completing coursework.
Courses include a predefined, editable content structure for maximum efficiency and flexibility. Creating a course involves customizing the structure, adding content items, uploading files, and assigning users to the course.
- Content can be arranged in a multi-level curriculum, for example, with sections and sub-sections, by simply dragging and dropping content items anywhere in the course structure hierarchy.
By default, courses are created with a simple structure, including an introduction, two sections, and a summary.
- The content can be gradually exposed to the learner with a learning path by defining prerequisites (completion and score) for enabling content items throughout the course structure.
Who can Create
Courses Instructors with course creation permissions create their courses. These courses reside in the instructor’s space, and the instructor manages the learners for those courses independently.
Steps to create a course
Creating a course is a six-step process: (1) Create, (2) Structure the course, (3) Add content items, (4) Configure, (5) Invite learners, and (6) Schedule Events. This article will guide you through the entire process.
Step 1: Creating a Course
Start with creating a new course and filling in the course details.
Step 2: Structure the course
The Structured Course content page is displayed with the default course structure. The structure can be arranged in a multi-level curriculum with sections and sub-sections.
Step 3: Add content items and Learning materials
Courses are made of content items, which can include a combination of content and interactions. Learning materials can be uploaded to the courses and are available for your learners to download.
Step 4: Customizing your course instance
Configuring the course schedule, due dates, and learning path allow you to control when learners can start a course and how much time they have to complete it, and the path in which your learners will go through the course content.
Step 5: Invite learners
Users can enroll in a course as soon as it's created, but we suggest enrolling them once you've configured the course and added all the training materials.
Step 6: Create Training Events
Schedule the training events can be added to the structure of a course, serving as synchronous face-to-face and online virtual training. Scheduling the event, you may send calendar invitations to the learners.
