Training packages are made of content items. A content item can include a combination of content as well as interactions. The content and interactions within a single content item may involve several pages. Content items can be created from Workspaces or training packages:
- Independent, reusable content items can be created in workspaces.
- Context-specific content items can be created in courses and knowledge streams. Regardless of where the source content came from, content items are created in the Unified Content Editor.
Steps to create a content item
Creating a content item is a five-step process: (1) Create, (2) Baselayer, (3) Interactions, (4) Configure, (5) Publish. This article will guide you through the entire process.

You can view the content from a learner's view at any step of content creation. This view is useful for improving the content learning experience. Click on the
button to view it in a new pop-up window.

Step 1: Create a content item
Start with adding a new section and filling in some content. On the left side menu, there’s a list of all available media and question items, and you can simply drag and drop any of them into a course section.
Step 2: Add a Baselayer
Add a base layer to the content item from various sources, including videos, PDF documents, PowerPoint slides, images, content item templates, and more.
Step 3: Add Interactions
Add interactions to any page of the content item. enabley offers a wide variety of question styles and media types to create vibrant study materials.
Step 4: Configure
Under Configure tab, you can set up different content, settings, availability, language, etc.
Step 5: Publish
Publish your content item and share it with learners.
Note:
It's not recommended to make changes to a published course that learners are completing. The progress may be lost or reported incorrectly.
